Evite Memories of Fall 2002 - 2003 Habs

I put together the best of eVite commentary - not the whole season, but enough for posterity. Some of it is fairly innocuous - "I won't be there", "let's win", etc. It's a record of a season where we didn't get eliminated in the first round. A season where most of us stayed healthy. A season where none of us (except me, since I'm the goalie) stayed out of the penalty box.

1 November 2002
Time to add to our one game win streak against the Jets. Remember, every point is one more point towards making the playoffs. Great game last week. (Dennis, you are absolutely right, we don't really need Misha or Winkelman.)

Last Habs Championship team. Who the hell knows what year that was.

ken kiteley   If we win another championship ! We will have a new team picture. (11/05)
drjeep10   Winkelman brings the beer. I wish I was in the picture, too, Kevin. (11/04)
Ron Zielinski   Pierre, you look young in that photo. Reading the other comments, I can see Greg was playing "defense" again. (11/04)
Brian Corriveau   I've washed both the purple socks this time so I'm ready. (11/03)
Kevin Murray   I'm in. I need to go on record and say that I object to that old-ass picture up there. (11/03)
Greg Niven   Hopefully I won't have to bail out the team again with my stellar offensive performance ... (11/03)

18 December 2002
Well, we made it to .500, despite Misha pretending he was Dennis (2 roughings) and assisting on the IceCocks' (something seriously wrong with that name) second goal. Note that this upcoming game is on the 4th. Other notable events of the last game was Kevin's two goals and Jeff's clean check (no penalty!) of their top player. It's amazing how easy it is to get in the fetal position on the ice.

Dennis Macneil   I'm back from the Great White North (01/02)
Kevin Murray   We're on fire. (12/20)
drjeep10   I was just a little disoriented after the impact. I was sure I was on the right bench. (12/20)

11 January 2003

We continued our winning ways, beating the Barracudas 3-1. The win vaulted up into fourth place,
which isn't shabby given that our early stellar record had us at the bottom of the pack in 10th or 11th.

Kevin Murray   I'm out of town for the next two games. :-( (01/13)
Greg Niven   It's my birthday that day, but I'm traveling in Korea and can't make it back for the game ... good to see that you finally won one without me!!! I can't believe that Brian finally scored with the purple socks ... I'm still getting you yellow ones!! (01/13)
Misha Rozenberg   I'll be enjoying Red Wings pound the Avs in Denver that night. Center ice, glass level seats were hard to pass up... Good luck! (01/12)

16 January 2003
Will wonders ever cease? The Habs are climbing their way up the food chain, beating the Bandits 2-1 in
yet another late game. Nils got the first goal and the
"let's pretend I'm Dennis" award. Kevin got the game
winner.

We're now 9-6-1. Check out http://www.bedard.com/ for a full schedule and game results.

Brian Corriveau   I'll bring my desk along so people can see it 8-) (01/18)
John Winkelman   At least I was on the ice to watch the goals. Missed the fight due to lines getting rearranged. (01/17)
Steve Mencacci   (01/17)
Ron Zielinski   We continue to win without Greg, but for how long? (01/17)

30 January 2003

Habs are now 10-6-1 after a tie with the Blizzard.

We had five guys and a goalie - Misha, Ken, Winkelman, Jeff, and "Puking" Dave Rodrigues. I'm sure the rest of you slackers will hear later how we managed to almost beat the number one team without a line change. MacNeal, you are so dead. Not only did you tell me you were showing up, you told Jeff, too!! Et tu Fleury????

Brian Corriveau   This is my last game guys!! Anybody want a big kitchen shelf cheap? (02/11)
ken kiteley   I will be there to play all three periods! The original 5 iron men shall return! All who did not attend by pizza and beer after playoffs game. (02/11)
Dave Rodriguez   10:30 oh, boy an early game... (01/31)
John Winkelman   I say the original 5 stay on the ice until WE feel like coming off. Now that we have had three 15-minute shifts we are in shape. Only one puked... Dennis and Doc both hurt my feelings... but still bring beer! (01/31)
drjeep10   I see we have enough guys (6)already, so the rest of you don't need to come! (01/31)
Steve Mencacci   I think ill try 10:30 PM (01/31)
Greg Niven   Okay, I'll be back from Hawaii to help spur us on to more victories. (01/31)

13 February 2003

Habs are now 10-7-1 after getting reamed by the Crash Test Dummies.

We need to win this one to clinch fifth place and keep us in the running for fourth place. These bastards not only ruined the economy, but they beat us 2-1 on a last minute goal back in November.

Later. Check out http://www.bedard.com/ for a full schedule and game results.

Pierre

Greg Niven   I'm flying in from Germany just so that I can attend the game. I'll be a bit tired, but a tired Greg is better than no Greg! (02/24)

28 February 2003

Well boys,

It's the last game of the season. This game has a lot of implications as to where we end up. We are now 10-9-3. A loss could drop us down a few slots in the standings.

We need to win this one.

Kevin Murray I'm there, simply because it's so much earlier than our last game and I'll have already sobered up from the night's drinking. (03/04)
drjeep10   I'll need an enforcer to protect my ribs! (03/12)
Ron Zielinski   Since Greg will be present, not sure if you need me; but I'll be there anyway. (03/11)
Dennis Macneil   Finally, a decent game time (03/10)
Greg Niven   This year we're going to win the Cup!! (03/10)
Misha Rozenberg   Kick some ass!!! (03/10)
